As the lead designer at Pine House Edible Garden, Caroline designed and managed construction for the back garden of this Berkeley resident’s home. The clients were looking for a kitchen garden, cedar soaking tub, a deck redesign, lots of habitat for local pollinators and birds, a bicycle ramp, outdoor dining, fruit trees, and new fencing. One challenge for us was that the client would bike from the grocery store with a bike loaded up with the groceries. Was there an easier way to manage the level change from street to garden? The bike ramp we designed was a fun feature to problem solve and we ended up loving it’s look in the landscape.
